The Pic du Jer is a destination which is accessible to everyone. Better than that! Thanks to the funicular it offers a complete range of open air entertainment: going up by funicular and hiking down, or the other way round, hiking with your elder child to meet mum and the baby at the summit, sharing a picinc around the viewpoint indicator, hurtling down the slopes on your mountain bike, etc. Join the club... and say "I did it!". The summit provides a wonderful panoramic viewpoint over the Pyrenees range, the Gaves valley and the Bigorre piedmont . |

Departure : Funicular railway lower station. As you face the station take the road which disappears behind it to the right. After passing the house called Ste Marie des Neiges, follow the stony path which goes up to the right.
0h30 : Track. At the end of the path, turn left along a larger track leaving the funicular viaduct on the right.
0h40 : Hut - Stretch of smooth water. Dry stone hut for hikers next to a small reservoir to be used in the event of a forest fire.
0h45 : Col des 3 Croix (Pass of the 3 crosses). You may choose to take the path to the left of the 3 crosses and come back to the pass before continuing along the rightmost track past the barrier.
1h10 : Radio antenna. Succession of twisting paths in the middle of tree plantations.
1h30 : Upper station. Panoramic bar-terrace with binoculars available. Take the path to the summit.
1h45 : Observatory. 360° panoramic view. Viewpoint indicator.
2h : Upper station. Follow the same route back

Take the funicular railway to go up and the mountain bike to go down!

Two permanently practicable tracks : - a sporty descent, classified as black, highly prized by all the downhillers from the region and even from the north of Spain. - just a ride, for the family, taking the cross-country forest track. 5 kilometres downhill and a return to the lower station through the gaves green way. |
